"Versatility is a double-edged sword for Dashawn Spears, who showed competent coverage both in the slot and in two-high safety looks. While his hip fluidity and route processing are functional, he lacks elite recovery speed or the instincts to consistently create impact plays. He projects as a valuable third or fourth safety with potential to become an average starter."
Spears arrived at LSU as a top-100 composite safety and then waited. Two seasons in a crowded room produced 26 games, four starts and one loud afternoon: two interceptions off DJ Lagway in September 2025 that earned SEC Defensive Player of the Week.
