Undersized stand-up rush linebacker who lived on the edge of Louisville's front, aligned as a wide-9 pass rusher on obvious downs and a walked-up outside backer on early downs. His calling card is get-off: he times the snap as well as any Day 3 rusher in the 2023 class, and he turns that jump into a flat, ankle-bending arc around the outside shoulder.

Abdullah is a fifth-year senior edge/linebacker hybrid whose football identity is speed to the corner. Louisville used him as a designated rusher first and asked him to cover and chase second, and he was at his best when he could put a hand down, key the ball and run the arc without traffic in front of him.
The production backs the projection: 23.5 career sacks (eighth in Louisville history) and 43 tackles for loss (second all-time at the school) across five seasons, with a 10-sack junior year and a 9.5-sack senior season that led the ACC and earned first-team all-conference honors. The flags are equally clear. He is a tweener with a narrow frame, he can be washed out of gaps by tight-zone teams, and his production came heavily against tackles who could not match his first step rather than against NFL-caliber anchors.
The board treated him as a mid-Day 3 specialist rather than a starter: too light to hold an every-down edge, too rush-oriented to be a true off-ball linebacker. Jacksonville drafted him to rush the passer on third down and cover kicks, and the second job quickly became the first. He appeared in five games as a rookie in 2023 with one tackle and one quarterback hit, then took a real step in 2024, playing 14 games with three starts and posting 15 defensive tackles plus a quarterback hit while adding three more on special teams. The 2025 season went the other way: 10 games, nine tackles, all of them on special teams, and no defensive impact to speak of. Across three Jaguars seasons he never carved out a defensive role, though he logged 435 special-teams snaps and became a trusted four-phases piece.
In hindsight the evaluation was mostly right and the outcome was mostly fair. The traits that made him a Day 3 pick — get-off, bend, timed speed — were never enough to overcome the play strength that kept him off the field on early downs, and the coverage limitations kept him from converting to off-ball linebacker. A strong 2026 preseason (a sack, a tackle for loss and a quarterback hit against New Orleans) was not enough to survive Jacksonville's cutdown; the Falcons claimed him off waivers on August 31, 2026, and he is on his second team as a rotational rusher and special-teams veteran. That is exactly what a fifth-round tweener pass rusher is supposed to be worth.
