"A four-school quarterback who turned one 3,164-yard FCS season into pick 241, then spent four years in the Kansas City room behind Mahomes collecting two Super Bowl rings and 55 career pass attempts."Pre-draft read

01Play style

A 6-1, 213-pound dual-threat quarterback whose fourth college stop was the one that worked. He led South Dakota State to an 11-4 season with 3,164 yards, 25 touchdowns and seven interceptions, throwing with real velocity on intermediate crossers and using his legs as a functional third-down weapon rather than a gimmick.

The swing is the issue. He is a rhythm thrower who trusts his arm more than his footwork, and when the first read is covered the ball placement drifts. His pro day numbers were pedestrian for a quarterback whose game is built on movement: 4.70 in the forty with a 32.5-inch vertical. Scouts liked the arm talent and the FCS production and treated the rest as a developmental project behind an established starter.

02Scheme fit
Ideal system

A movement-based offense with bootlegs, play-action and designed quarterback runs that keeps the first read defined and on the move.

Best role

Year 1: practice squad developmental arm. Ceiling: a QB2 who can win a game with his legs if the starter goes down.

Wrong fit

A pure dropback timing offense that asks him to work through full-field progressions from under center against disguised coverage.

Kansas City kept him for four years precisely because he could mimic mobile quarterbacks on the scout team.

04The evaluation

Oladokun was born and raised in Tampa and played high school football at Sickles and Alonso before signing with South Florida. He redshirted in 2016, threw one pass in two games in 2017, and in 2018 appeared in six games with three starts, completing 22 of 44 attempts for 285 yards with three touchdowns and an interception while the team lost all three of his starts.

He transferred to Samford in the FCS and immediately looked like a different quarterback. In 2019 he played all 12 games with eight starts, passing for 2,058 yards and 18 touchdowns against seven interceptions and running for 491 yards and eight scores on 127 carries. The pandemic-shifted 2020-21 Samford season was a step backward: seven games, one start, 221 passing yards.

He transferred again for 2021, this time to South Dakota State, and that season made him a draft pick. He started all 15 games and went 11-4, completing 238 of 382 passes for 3,164 yards with 25 touchdowns and seven interceptions, a 149.0 efficiency rating, plus 166 rushing yards and two more scores as the Jackrabbits went deep into the FCS playoffs. His college career finished with 5,740 passing yards, 47 touchdown passes and 703 rushing yards across four schools.

05Strengths
  1. 01

    Live arm

he drove the ball into intermediate windows at South Dakota State and threw 25 touchdowns against seven interceptions as a senior.

  2. 02

    Genuine dual-threat production

703 career rushing yards and 12 rushing touchdowns, including a 491-yard season at Samford.

  3. 03

    Proven starter's résumé

27 college starts and a 16-11 record as a starter across three different college programs.

  4. 04

    Toughness and adaptability

he changed schools three times and won the job outright at every stop that gave him a real chance.

  5. 05

    Efficient decision-maker

a 149.0 passer rating on 382 attempts in his final season against playoff-caliber FCS defenses.

06Concerns
  1. 01

    Small-school competition

his production came in the FCS, and his only FBS action was three losing starts at South Florida.

  2. 02

    Inconsistent footwork

his base breaks down under pressure, and the ball placement drifts when the first read is taken away.

  3. 03

    Modest athletic testing

a 4.70 forty and a 32.5-inch vertical undersell a game built partly on escaping the pocket.

  4. 04

    Age and mileage

he arrived in the NFL at 24 with five college seasons behind him and a very short developmental runway.

Season totals come from the published college statistics table for his four stops and sum exactly to the career line. Rushing production is recorded in the season notes rather than as separate columns because the canonical quarterback keys cover passing only.

A dash means the figure is not published by a source we trust — never a zero we invented.

Pittsburgh drafted him 241st and never played him; he was waived at the end of camp and Kansas City signed him to the practice squad on August 31, 2022. He then spent four full seasons in the Chiefs quarterback room behind Patrick Mahomes, waived and re-signed to the practice squad at every cutdown, collecting Super Bowl LVII and Super Bowl LVIII championship rings along the way.

His NFL playing time finally came late. He appeared in one game in 2024 with a single five-yard run, then played three games in 2025 with two starts in meaningless late-season games, completing 35 of 55 passes for 235 yards with a touchdown and no interceptions while being sacked eight times. The Chiefs waived him with an injury designation on August 30, 2026, and on September 21, 2026 he signed with the BC Lions of the CFL, joining their practice roster alongside his younger brother, defensive back Jordan Oladokun. Four seasons in an NFL building and two rings out of pick 241 is a real return, even if he never won a job.
