"He forced four fumbles and led the SEC's Sugar Bowl team in tackles in his one year at Ole Miss, then lost three of his first five NFL seasons to injured reserve and a torn ACL."Pre-draft read

01Play style

A downhill, testing-friendly linebacker who plays faster than he processes. At 6-2 3/8 and 232 pounds, Campbell ran 4.57 with a 1.54 ten-yard split, a 4.25 shuttle, a 7.19 cone and a 39.5-inch vertical, an athletic profile that belongs in the top tier of the position group in his class. He triggers hard on run keys and arrives with intent.

The ball production is real and not accidental: he attacks the football at contact, which is how he stacked four forced fumbles and three recoveries in one season. What holds him back is length and diagnosis. With 31 1/4-inch arms he struggles to shed once a guard climbs to him, and he can be moved by traffic in the box. In coverage he is better running than reading, and he will bite on play-action.

02Scheme fit
Ideal system

A one-gap four-man front that keeps its linebackers clean behind the line and lets a downhill WILL run to the ball on early downs.

WILL linebackerStack backerKickoff coveragePunt team
Best role

Year 1: core special teams and backup WILL. Ceiling: a two-down starting linebacker who plays 40 percent of defensive snaps.

Wrong fit

A two-gap front that leaves its linebackers to take on pulling guards, where his 31-inch arms end the rep on contact.

He needs a defensive line that eats blocks; put him in traffic and the athleticism disappears.

04The evaluation

Campbell was a Baltimore-area recruit out of Calvert Hall who stayed home at Maryland. He played 11 games as a freshman in 2018 almost entirely on special teams and finished with 10 tackles. As a sophomore in 2019 he moved into the rotation for 10 games with 54 tackles, five tackles for loss, an interception, three pass breakups and a forced fumble.

The COVID-shortened 2020 season was his breakout in miniature. In four games he put up 42 tackles, six tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks and a 34-yard fumble return for a touchdown, leading the Terrapins in production before entering the transfer portal as a graduate.

Ole Miss was the right landing spot. He started all 13 games in 2021 and led the Rebels with 110 tackles, adding 13 tackles for loss, six sacks, two pass breakups, four forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries on a Lane Kiffin team that went 10-3 and reached the Sugar Bowl. He closed a 38-game college career with 216 tackles, 24 tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks and five forced fumbles, then ran and jumped well enough in pre-draft testing to make the athletic case for himself. At 22, he was a one-year SEC starter with special teams value and questions about instincts.

05Strengths
  1. 01

    Testing profile for the position

    a 4.57 forty, 4.25 shuttle, 7.19 cone and 39.5-inch vertical at 232 pounds.

  2. 02

    Takeaway production

four forced fumbles and three recoveries in his Ole Miss season, plus a 34-yard scoop score in 2020.

  3. 03

    Volume tackler

110 stops to lead a 10-win SEC team, with 216 tackles across a 38-game career at two programs.

  4. 04

    Downhill trigger

he does not wait on the run fit, closing the gap between the tackle box and the ball in a hurry.

  5. 05

    Special teams foundation

his entire freshman year was kicking-game work, the exact path a sixth-round linebacker needs.

06Concerns
  1. 01

    Short arms for the position

31 1/4 inches, which means blockers latch on and he has no mechanism to disengage.

  2. 02

    Processing lags his feet

he reacts to what he sees late and can be manipulated by play-action and misdirection.

  3. 03

One year of high-level starting tape

his Maryland production came in a 10-game rotation and a four-game season.

  4. 04

Gets moved by contact in traffic

at 232 pounds without length he is washed out when guards climb clean to him.

Season lines come from Sports Reference's college table, where games, tackles, tackles for loss and sacks sum exactly to the career line of 38 games, 216 tackles, 24 tackles for loss and 7.5 sacks. cfbstats lists his 2021 season at 109 tackles and 12.5 tackles for loss through January 10, 2022, a rounding and cutoff difference from the 110 and 13.0 shown here. Interceptions, pass breakups, forced fumbles and fumble recoveries are listed only in the seasons where a source credits them rather than filled with zeros; his 2020 fumble recovery was returned 34 yards for a touchdown.

A dash means the figure is not published by a source we trust — never a zero we invented.

Tennessee took him 219th and never got to see him. He went on injured reserve on September 9, 2022 and lost his entire rookie season. Waived at the 2023 cut and re-signed to the practice squad the next day, he was promoted on September 22, waived on October 28, re-signed three days later and promoted again on November 11. He played four games before an injury in warmups before Week 10 sent him to injured reserve on November 15.

Then came the worst of it: a torn ACL announced by head coach Brian Callahan on August 26, 2024, wiping out a third season. Philadelphia signed him on August 20, 2025, waived him at cuts, re-signed him to the practice squad and gave him a reserve/future deal on January 12, 2026; he was released again at the 2026 cut and re-signed to the practice squad the following day. Four NFL games and three career tackles across five seasons is what injuries do to a Day 3 linebacker whose margin was already thin. He is still on a roster, which counts for something, but the pick returned nothing.
