"The Rams drafted Clemson's powerful right tackle at No. 250 to play guard, and he spent four seasons there as a reserve interior lineman and earned a Super Bowl LVI ring."Pre-draft read
Anchrum was the right tackle in Clemson's spread offense, a 6-2, roughly 315-pounder who started his final 30 games for teams that went 29-1. His primary trait was power and leverage: his low center of gravity let him anchor against bull rushes and drive defenders off the ball in the run game.
His secondary trait was experience, with 2,516 snaps over 55 games and 37 starts. His short arms and height projected him inside to guard in the NFL, where he would need to adjust to new angles and quicker interior rushers. His signature was a senior year in which he was a permanent team captain and first-team All-ACC pick.
Zone-based offense that uses a compact, powerful guard to win with leverage on combination and reach blocks.
Year 1: developmental interior backup. Ceiling: swing guard and emergency tackle.
Pass-heavy offense that needs an interior lineman to win on an island against quick three-techniques.
His power and leverage fit best at guard in a zone system.

Los Angeles Rams Offensive Lineman Tremayne Anchrum Jr. On Being A Super Bowl LVI Champ
Interview on his Super Bowl ring with the Rams.
Anchrum projected as a powerful, experienced college tackle whose size and arm length made him a late-round developmental guard. Evaluators liked his strength, leverage and championship pedigree, but questioned how quickly he could transition inside and handle quicker interior rushers.
He was a spot starter in 2016 and 2017, then became Clemson's full-time right tackle in 2018 and 2019, starting every game as the Tigers went 29-1 and won the 2018 national championship. He finished with 55 games, 37 starts and 2,516 snaps, one of 23 players in school history to reach 2,500 snaps. As a senior he started all 15 games, played 842 snaps and earned first-team All-ACC honors and NSCA Strength All-America recognition. The flags were his height, short arms and lack of experience at guard.
Most boards viewed him as a late-round guard conversion. The Rams took him at No. 250 as an interior developmental lineman. The Rams valued his power, leverage and experience on championship teams, betting that a year or two of development at guard could turn him into a dependable reserve.
- 01
Power and leverage
Used a low center of gravity to anchor against bull rushes and drive defenders off the ball in the run game.
- 02
Experience
Played 2,516 snaps over 55 games with 37 starts, one of only 23 Clemson players to reach 2,500 career snaps.
- 03
Championship pedigree
Started every game in 2018 and 2019 as Clemson went 29-1 and won the 2018 national championship.
- 04
Strength
Earned NSCA Strength All-America honors as a senior, showing the power to win at the point of attack inside.
- 05
Leadership
Was voted a permanent team captain in 2019 and earned first-team All-ACC honors as a senior right tackle.
- 01
Size for tackle
At 6-2 with short arms, he lacked the length to handle NFL edge rushers, forcing a move inside to guard.
- 02
Position change
Played almost entirely at right tackle in college, so he needed time to learn guard angles and combination blocks.
- 03
Quickness inside
Had to prove he could mirror quicker interior rushers and handle stunts and twists at the NFL level.
- 04
Limited ceiling
His measurements and position change pointed to a backup interior role more than a starting projection.

Career games, starts and snaps and his 2019 line are from Clemson Athletics. Season-by-season games and starts for 2016 through 2018 were not published and are left blank.
A dash means the figure is not published by a source we trust — never a zero we invented.
The realized outcome: a reserve interior lineman with one start.
College tackle who moved inside and became a starting guard.
Late-arriving guard who stayed a fringe depth player.
Everything above is the pre-draft evaluation. This section is what actually happened — updated year over year.
Anchrum spent four seasons with the Rams, appearing in 31 games with one start across 2020, 2022 and 2023, mostly on special teams and as a reserve lineman behind the starting interior group. He spent the 2021 season on injured reserve but was part of the roster that won Super Bowl LVI, adding an NFL title to his two national championships at Clemson.
In hindsight the pick returned solid value for a No. 250 selection. The power and experience evaluators praised kept him on the roster for four years, while the size and position-change concerns flagged before the draft limited him to a backup role with one start. He became a reliable depth piece on a championship roster, which is about the best realistic outcome for any offensive lineman taken this late in a draft, and he left Clemson with two national titles. Few late seventh-round picks can claim championships at both the college and NFL levels.
