"A 6-3 outside receiver who set UCF's single-season yardage record with 1,241 and ranks second in school history in touchdowns — size and ball skills over separation quickness."Pre-draft read

01Play style

Davis is a 6-3, 212-pound X receiver built for the vertical game. He wins with size, strong hands and body control down the sideline, and he averaged 17.2 yards a catch as a junior because he was the target on every deep shot in a UCF offense that pushed the ball.

He is a contested-catch receiver first. He boxes out defensive backs, tracks the deep ball over either shoulder and finishes through contact, scoring twelve times in a season on that profile. The release package and route tree are narrow. He does not separate with quickness underneath, his short-area burst is ordinary, and he needs a scheme that uses him outside rather than in motion. The signature is the combination of size, ball skills and downfield production.

02Scheme fit
Ideal system

A vertical passing offense with a strong-armed quarterback that isolates an X receiver on the backside and throws him deep shots and back-shoulder fades.

Best role

Year 1 third receiver taking the top off coverage on play-action, with a ceiling as a starting outside receiver producing fifteen-hundred-plus yards over two seasons in a big-play offense.

Wrong fit

A quick-game, timing-based West Coast offense that wants its receivers to separate underneath with sudden breaks and create yards after the catch.

04The evaluation

Davis was the most productive deep threat in his conference, a Sanford, Florida, product who stayed close to home and left UCF after three seasons as one of the most decorated receivers in program history.

His junior year was the case. He started all twelve regular-season games before sitting the bowl, caught 72 passes for a school single-season record 1,241 yards and twelve touchdowns, ranked eighth nationally in receiving yards per game at 103.4 and twelfth in receiving scores, and led his conference in yards per game. He strung together four consecutive hundred-yard games against Pitt, UConn, Cincinnati and East Carolina, tied for the second-longest streak in school history, and had five games with two or more touchdowns. Pro Football Focus named him a third-team All-American. He left with 152 catches for 2,447 yards and 23 touchdowns in 38 games, second in program history in scores.

The board saw a big-bodied outside receiver whose production was real but whose athletic profile was merely good. The questions were separation and route diversity against NFL corners, and whether a vertical specialist could survive without elite speed. Buffalo, building around a quarterback with a big arm, took him at 128.

05Strengths
  1. 01

    Contested-catch ability

Boxes out defensive backs and finishes through contact, which is how he turned 72 catches into twelve touchdowns as a junior.

  2. 02

    Deep-ball tracking

Locates and adjusts to the ball over either shoulder down the sideline, the trait behind a 17.2-yard average per reception.

  3. 03

    Red-zone target

Second in UCF history with 23 career touchdown catches, a size-and-leverage weapon inside the twenty.

  4. 04

    Frame and catch radius

At 6-3 and 212 pounds he gives a quarterback a throwing window even when coverage is technically tight.

  5. 05

    Proven production

School single-season record of 1,241 yards with four straight hundred-yard games against real conference competition.

06Concerns
  1. 01

    Limited separation

Does not create space with quickness underneath and struggles to shake press corners who match his physicality.

  2. 02

    Narrow route tree

Ran mostly vertical concepts at UCF, so the intermediate and option-route part of his game was projection.

  3. 03

    Ordinary short-area burst

Lacks the suddenness in and out of breaks that NFL offenses want from a full-time perimeter starter.

  4. 04

    Yards after catch

Wins at the catch point rather than after it, and rarely turns a routine reception into extra yardage.

Career totals of 152 catches for 2,447 yards and 23 touchdowns and the 2019 line come from UCF's official player page; he started all twelve regular-season games in 2019 and sat out the Gasparilla Bowl. His 2017 and 2018 seasons were not published individually and are left empty rather than derived by subtraction.

A dash means the figure is not published by a source we trust — never a zero we invented.

Davis became one of the best value picks of the round. He played sixteen games as a rookie in 2020 with 35 catches for 599 yards and seven touchdowns at 17.1 a catch, then matched the catch total in 2021 with 549 yards and six scores while becoming Buffalo's vertical answer. That January he caught four touchdown passes in a divisional playoff game against Kansas City, an NFL postseason record.

He moved into the full-time starting role in 2022 with 48 catches for 836 yards and seven touchdowns, including a 98-yard catch-and-run, and followed with 45 catches for 746 yards and seven scores in 2023. Jacksonville signed him to a three-year deal worth nearly forty million in 2024, and it went wrong fast: a shoulder injury, then a torn meniscus in week eleven ended his season at ten games and 239 yards, and the Jaguars released him in May 2025 only fourteen months into the contract. He returned to Buffalo for six games in 2025. Through that season he had 80 games, 195 catches, 3,098 yards and 30 touchdowns. For pick 128, four seasons as a starting NFL receiver and a record-setting playoff performance is a clear win.
