Batten.
South Dakota St.
3-4 two-gap 5-technique, a disciplined system that requires stout run defenders who can anchor against double teams and funnel plays to linebackers.
Year 1 rotational 5-technique who can hold his own against the run, with a ceiling as a long-term starter at the position.
A Wide-9 attacking front that prioritizes pure speed and pass-rushing upside from its defensive ends.
Batten's strength and run defense ability make him a natural fit for two-gap systems that prioritize stopping the run.
Relative Athletic Score (Kent Lee Platte) benchmarks combine/pro-day numbers against every measured prospect at the position since 1987. 10.00 is elite; 5.00 is average.
