Three names are pulling away, two are climbing, and one senior looks too much like Fernando Mendoza to ignore.
The 2027 QB class is not fully separated yet, and that is exactly the point. In May, the responsible move is not selling a closed answer. It is explaining what still has to be proven.
Tier 1: three names, not eight
Dante Moore (Oregon) has the best path if he sustains rhythm and processing against real pressure. The test comes when the first read is covered and the pocket is not clean.
Julian Sayin (Ohio State) offers precision and anticipation. He needs start volume and more snaps against defenses capable of breaking timing.
Arch Manning (Texas) has mental structure, pre-snap control and enough tools. The question is full-season consistency and creation when the play leaves structure.
Tier 2: the names that can push
LaNorris Sellers (South Carolina) has the highest athletic upside outside the main group. To climb, he needs steadier mechanics and better intermediate decisions.
Trinidad Chambliss (Ole Miss) has movement ability and enough arm to enter the radar if processing speeds up. The correct evaluation starts with the correct school: Ole Miss.
Real depth, not hype
The class can have depth if distinct profiles emerge between picks 15 and 70: pocket passers, creators, big arms and late-developing veterans. But that depth has to be proven with updated tape, not names from other cycles.
What we are watching
1. Moore against early pressure. 2. Sayin when the first concept is taken away. 3. Manning in the SEC schedule. 4. Sellers on intermediate accuracy. 5. Chambliss against defensive speed.
The February board does not have to look like the May board. That is not a bug in the process. That is the process.
